About SorrentoSorrento is a popular town on the northern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula. Sorrento features beautiful architecture, many cafes and restaurants, and shops catering to tourists. It is the last stop on the Circumvesuviana rail system and therefore it is easily reached from Naples and an ideal base for visiting Pompeii and Ercolano. The tourist focal point is Piazza Tasso, the central square which is built over a gorge. Other attractions to behold include the many lemon terraces, Marina Piccola, Puntacampanella natural reserve, Villa Pollio Roman ruins in Capo di Sorrento, Hotel Tramontano (where Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen lived), Museo Correale di Terranova, Archeological Museum of the Sorrentine Peninsula, Museo Bottega della Tasia Lignea, the Duomo, St. Francis Monastery and the Basilica di Sant'Antonino.
