About Modena

Modena is a well-known city, which lies on the Po Valley and is bounded by the two rivers Secchia and Panaro, both effluents of the Po River. Their presence is symbolized by the Two Rivers Fountain in the city's centre, by Giuseppe Graziosi. Some famous people were born and lived in Modena, including Enzo Ferrari and Luciano Pavarotti. Within the last 40 years, Modena has become one of the richest and most socially advanced cities in Europe and today it boasts 48 miles of cycling tracks, 16 cinemas, 25 libraries and one of Europe's oldest universities. The iconic Ferrari supercar was founded in Modena and several other Italian status-symbol supercars such as Pagani, De Tomaso, Lamborghini, Maserati and Bugatti were either founded or are currently headquartered or built within a few kilometers from the city. The main sight seeing attractions include the Duomo, Piazza Grande, Ghirlandina Tower, Ducal Palace (Military Academy), Galleria Civica, San Cataldo cemetery and many historic churches in the city centre. Modena is also home of many festivals, such as Festival Internazionale delle Bande Militari (military bands) and Modena terra di motori (luxury vehicles).
