Day 1:
Leaving Rome in a southerly direction, we take the "Highway of the Sun" crossing the fertile Roman countryside through the area known as the ‘Castelli Romani'. Approximately halfway along the highway, you will be able to see the Abbey of Montecassino, noted for its famous battle and complete destruction during the Second World War. Descending towards Naples and the port of Mergellina and following the coastal road, we arrive in the ancient fishing quarter of Santa Lucia and see the impressive Castel dell'Ovo (photo stop). The city tour continues crossing the historical centre to see Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the San Carlo Opera House, the Gallery of Umberto I and the imposing Maschio Angioino. Upon leaving the city, we cross the fertile valley of Mount Vesuvius, passing the towns of Ercolano, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before finally arriving at Pompeii, where we stop first for lunch. After that we will visit the excavations on foot with a local guide on an archaeological journey through the ancient city. In approx. 2 hours you will see some of what has been discovered in more than 1,700 years since Pompeii was covered by ashes during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Through the remains and ruins of this ancient city, we can picture the everyday life of the Imperial Age and imagine the panic felt by the people in those last few minutes before the city was so disastrously buried. This will be followed by a drive along one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in Italy known as the ‘Costiera Sorrentina', to which the town of Sorrento gives its name. Arrival at your hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2:
After breakfast transfer to the port of Sorrento and after approximately 20 minutes by jet boat arrive at the port of Marina Grande on the island of Capri. Board motorboats and then rowboats to visit the Blue Grotto (if weather and sea conditions permit), followed by a panoramic tour of Capri and Anacapri by minibus and on foot. After your included lunch, you will have some free time before check-in to your hotel in Capri or return to your hotel in Sorrento, where you will have your included dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3:
After the included breakfast, the rest of the day is yours to discover the charms of this ‘jewel of the Mediterranean'/Amalfi. In the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Rome by coach. Approximate arrival back in Rome will be 8pm.

Useful information: we suggest that you wear comfortable clothes and shoes for this excursion, and to wear sunglasses and sun hat in the summer months. Remember, of course, to bring your bathing costumes during the summer months and the minimum of luggage necessary for your stay.
Please note: the tour cost does not include the carriage of luggage or porterage on the Sorrento-Capri-Naples transfers. The charge of approx. € 19,00 per bag must be paid on the spot direct by clients. For logistical reasons, the name of the hotels in Capri and Sorrento will be advised after departure from Rome during the course of the tour.
