About Florence to Siena and Pienza day tour

A tour through the beauty of the Val d'Orcia, Pienza, Siena and Monteriggioni
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday - Approx: 9 hours

This tour will set off from Florence and head towards the Val d'Orcia, renowned for its fantastic landscape featuring the unique soft rolling hills that are typical of Tuscany and home of Pienza. The village of Pienza was rebuilt during the 1400's by Pope Pius II, a great humanist and poet, who contracted one of the best Renaissance architects to make his dream come true: building an "Ideal Renaissance City". Enjoy a guided tour of the interiors of the Papal Palace and view its jewels. Then on to Siena the city that many visitors like even more than Florence. Here you can walk along the 13th century streets and admire impressive palaces, churches and piazzas, whilst taking in the warmth expressed by Siena's old Latin motto "Cor magis tibi Sena pandit" - Siena opens her big heart to you. During the middle-ages this was one of the most powerful banking cities in the world and it was an example of great civilization. Today, it features some of the most important works of art in Italy going back to the middle-age period. On the way back to Florence you will stop by the beautiful mediaeval walled town of Monteriggioni, which due to its breath-taking beauty was even mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the "Inferno" of The Divine Comedy.Palazzo Piccolomini Entrance Fee = Euro 8 per person to be paid on the spot.
