About Venice San Marco Basilica package

San Marco Basilica is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. It lies at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace. Originally it was the chapel of the Doge, and has only been the city's cathedral since 1807. This package includes a fully guided tour of San Marco Basilica. Our tour guide, appointed in accordance with the Curia of Venice, will lead you around majestic building for a full one hour tour. You will be able to take in the unique collection of Byzantine art, the gold mosaics and the marble inlays of the floors. As you are led around further our guide will re tell the stories of the Basilica whilst you admire the biblical scenes, the history and the other particularities of this ancient basilica. You will no doubt be in ore of the Pala d'Oro, an exquisite example of the byzantine art with its thousands of gems and precious stones and the view of the Treasury, a splendour of the religious art collected along the centuries.
