The Venice absolute tour is the perfect way to see the main sights of Venice's historical centre both inside and out. Our tour guide will take you around the famous Piazza San Marco (St Marks square), where you will see Doge's Palace, San Marco Basilica, the bell tower known as Campanile di San Marco and the clock tower with high archway leading to the street known as the Mercerie (a main thoroughfare and shopping area of the city). This is a guided tour leads you around the inside of two of the most famous and interesting buildings in the historical centre of Venice. Firstly our guide will take you around of one of the most magical cathedrals in the world, San Marco Basilica. The Basilica is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. It lies at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace. Originally it was the chapel of the Doge, and has only been the city's cathedral since 1807. Our tour guide, appointed in accordance with the Curia of Venice, will lead you around majestic building for a full one hour tour. You will be able to take in the unique collection of Byzantine art, the gold mosaics and the marble inlays of the floors. You will also be guided around Doge's Palace (Italian: Palazzo Ducale), which was the seat of the Venetian political power for many centuries. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice. In the splendid rooms of the Palace, immersed hundreds of works of art, the Duke and his Council controlled the fate of a thousand-year history of the Republic. This tour will give you the opportunity to relive the days of supreme authority from yesteryear. This tour will also involve a trip to the famous Bridge of Sighs. The Bridge of Sighs (Italian: Ponte dei Sospiri) is an enclosed bridge that is made of white limestone and has windows with stone bars. It passes over the Rio di Palazzo and connects the old prisons to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace. It was designed by Antoni Contino and built in 1602. You will be able to witness the old prisons during this tour.
