A full day guided boat tour with local fisherman in the beautiful Venetian Lagoon at Burano Island.

From the meeting point in Venice you will take a private water taxi to reach Burano Island, renowned for its rich fishing culture. Your tour will start in Burano where a local fisherman of the Fishermen's Cooperative of San Marco will be waiting to take you to visit the various fish cultures inside the Venetian Lagoon. You will then board a fishing boat for a 2 hour boat tour Lagoon in which you will discover the beautiful colours and hidden secrets of the Lagoon. The Lagoon was formed about six to seven thousand years ago, when the marine transgression following the Ice Age flooded the upper Adriatic coastal plain. During spring and autumn, the period when the local crabs moult, you will have the chance to see the art of breeding this incredible creature and selecting the ones that will become moeche (soft shell crabs). Only a small number of fishermen can lie claim to possess they necessary knowledge it takes to be a Moecari (moeche breeder), since it is a very difficult job. This tour also involves a delicious lunch together with the fishermen and time to wander around Burano at your own leisure. After this, the tour will take you onwards to the island of Torcello to visit the wonderful Church, before returning to Venice
