This is a guided tour leads you around two of the most famous and interesting buildings in the historical centre of Venice. Firstly our guide will take you around of one of the most magical cathedrals in the world, San Marco Basilica. The Basilica is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. It lies at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace. Originally it was the chapel of the Doge, and has only been the city's cathedral since 1807. Our tour guide, appointed in accordance with the Curia of Venice, will lead you around majestic building for a full one hour tour. You will be able to take in the unique collection of Byzantine art, the gold mosaics and the marble inlays of the floors. As you are led around further our guide will re tell the stories of the Basilica whilst you admire the biblical scenes, the history and the other particularities of this ancient basilica. The second part of this tour takes you inside Doge's Palace (Italian: Palazzo Ducale), which was the seat of the Venetian political power for many centuries. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice. In the splendid rooms of the Palace, immersed hundreds of works of art, the Duke and his Council controlled the fate of a thousand-year history of the Republic. This tour will give you the opportunity to relive the days of supreme authority from yesteryear. Our tour guide will lead you through the halls of power, plunging you into historical context of the European Middle Ages and the immediately following centuries. You will witness rich details of the gold staircase and the mesmerising realism of the scenes depicted by many artists who have decorated this building.
