Guided tour to discover the works of Renaissance artists Tiziano Vicelli and Tintoretto
Approx: 2 hours
Tiziano and Tintoretto are two of the most famous painters from the Renaissance era. Tiziano was one of the most versatile of Italian painters, equally adept with portraits, landscape backgrounds, and mythological and religious subjects. His painting methods, particularly in the application and use of colour, would exercise a profound influence not only on painters of the Italian Renaissance, but on future generations of Western art. Tintoretto (birth name: Jacopo Comin) was given the name Il Furioso for his phenomenal energy in painting. His work is characterised by its muscular figures, dramatic gestures and bold use of perspective in the Mannerist style, while maintaining color and light typical of the Venetian School. Our tour guide will lead you to the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari which houses ‘The Assumption' a piece of art that decrees the success of Titan. You will also visit the Scuola Grande di San Rocco where Tintoreto's most renowned works are to be found in the Sala dell'Albergo and the Sala Superiore.
