Chocolate pizza

Since it's chocolate week tonight on The Great British Bake Off we thought we would celebrate with an Italian-inspired chocolate recipe of our own. So, here it is: the chocolate pizza! Enjoy!

Pizza dough (see our recipe) or use a pre-made pizza base (available at most supermarkets)
2 tbsp butter, melted
1/4 cup chocolate–hazelnut spread (e.g., Nutella)
1/2 cup bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
2 tbsp high-quality white chocolate (e.g., Lindt or Perugina), chopped
2 tbsp toasted hazelnuts, chopped

Preparation method
Preheat the oven to 230 °C (450 °F). If you’re working with a fresh dough, roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface so that each pizza base is about 11 inches across and whatever thickness you desire. (If you’re using a pre-made base then you will obviously skip this step!) Pop the pizza base on a lined baking tray and then pud the dough all over with your fingertips (you won’t be able to do this if you’re using a pre-made base, but they normally come with indentations). Brush melted butter over the base and then bake it until pale golden, about 20 minutes if you’re working with fresh dough or about 5–10 minutes if you’re working with a pre-made base (follow the manufacturer’s instructions).

Once the base is golden, smooth the chocolate–hazelnut spread over the hot crust and sprinkle with chopped bittersweet and white chocolate. Bake until the chocolate begins to melt (about 2 minutes) and then remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts before serving. Yum!

You can customize this recipe however you like: instead of chopped nuts, you could add chocolate drops or chocolate buttons, sliced strawberries, smarties, marshmallows, or whatever else you can think of!
