Formula E to Return to Rome in 2019

Rome expected to be the Italian hosts of the 2nd edition of the Formula E car race on 13th April 2019.

Rome’s mayor Virginia Raggi has indicated that the organisation behind the increasingly popular Formula E is keen to return the car race to the city for its 2nd edition in 2019.

The race, which sees battery-powered electric cars take to street circuits, was originally hosted by Rome on 14th April 2018, with 20 racing cars involved in a thrilling 19-lap battle. Following its success, it’s hoped that the city will host the event once again in 2019 on 13th April, with drivers racing on a 2.8km circuit.

The championship, which as of 2019 will also be attended by Mercedes and Porsche, will consist of 13 races in 12 cities on 4 continents. The championship will start on 15th December in Ad Diriya, then take to Rome in mid-April. It is hotly anticipated that Formula 1 racing driver Felipe Massa will race for the Venturi team.
