Italy City Tax

On the 28th July 2010 major tourist cities in Italy introduced a city tax, which is to be paid by all tourists staying in the city overnight. The fee is compulsory, but note that children under the age of 10 years are exempt from payment in most cities. It is usually payable in cash at the end of your stay in each city and should be paid directly to the hotel when you check out.

The fee varies with the city and star of accommodation so, to help make things more clear, we have prepared the table below to show the city tax payable for popular destinations in Italy. The information is correct at the time of writing (June 2016), but please do check the rates before you travel as they frequently change.
