Mille Miglia 2016 at Via Veneto - The Parade of Vintage Cars

Tomorrow, Friday 20th May 2016, sees the Roman stage of the Mille Miglia 2016 competition. The vintage cars will parade through the streets of the centre of Rome starting at 19.30 tomorrow evening.

The street of La Dolce Vita will welcome the arrival of the classic cars that participate in the thirty-fourth commemoration of the Mille Miglia, the race between historic cars, which will include visits to the capital, Rome, tomorrow.

Upon arrival in Rome, the time control, traditionally held in Castel Sant'Angelo, will take place in the beautiful setting of Villa Borghese this year. The cars will travel to Via Veneto, where, starting from Via Sicilia, will be presented to the public at 19:30 and then will continue with a walkway through the town centre. You can then watch the parade of historic cars in Piazza Barberini, Via del Tritone, Piazza San Claudio, via San Claudio, via del Corso, Piazza Venezia, Piazza San Marco, Piazza d'Aracoeli, Via del Teatro di Marcello, Via Petroselli, Mouth of Truth, Circus Maximus, Aventine avenue, up to viale delle Terme di Caracalla, where the riders will take Cristoforo Colombo avenue towards the EUR area of the city for the night.

This is a fantastic chance to admire the cars, but also to recognize the many VIPs who are part of the 2016 edition of the Mille Miglia crews, including Kasia Smutniak, Anna Kanakis, Stefano and Nicolo Marzotto, former Formula One drivers, Ivan Capelli and Jacky Ickx and Albert Carreras, son of the famous tenor.

The race started in Brescia on Thursday 19th May, and continues in Rome after the stage of Rimini, and will then set off Saturday 21st for Parma, the last stop, before returning to Brescia. Respecting the tradition born in 1927, the route starts and ends at Brescia, crossing Italy in four half-steps, before and after the turning point in Rome. With its ability to combine tradition, innovation, creativity, elegance and beautiful scenery, the Mille Miglia is a symbol of Italian excellence in the world.

Since 2013, the event has been run by 1000 Miglia Ltd., wholly owned by the Automobile Club of Brescia, which has specially created it in 2012. Chaired by Aldo Bonomi, flanked by Vice President Franco Gussalli Beretta, 1000 Miles Ltd. closed the “last budget, with an increase of 34% in sales over the previous year”.
