Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at your hotel in style with a private transfer from the airport.

Day 2: Half day classic tour of Rome

This is a part bus and part walking tour and so is perfect for those that don’t want to do too much walking around the city sights. It includes stops at Piazza della Repubblica, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon (including inside), Piazza Navona, Castel Sant’Angelo and St Peter’s Square.

Day 3: VIP half day tour of the Vatican Museums and St Peter’s Basilica

The Vatican Museums are considered some of the most significant and arguably house the world’s greatest masterpieces and precious artefacts that cover a vast period of historical significance with pieces from ancient Egypt up to modern day Europe. This VIP tour gives you access to the museums an hour before the museums open to the public, allowing you to skip the queues and crowds. You will also have privileged access to St Peter’s Basilica and an expert guide.

Day 4: Full day tour to the Tivoli Villas

The Tivoli Villas include Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este and are historic houses at the foot of the Tiburtini Hills. They are among the most beautiful residences in Rome and feature fountains, manicured gardens and carved stonework that you can enjoy with an expert guide.

Day 5: VIP half day tour of the Colosseum

This VIP tour gives you special access to some of the more archaeologically sensitive and mysterious underground regions of the Colosseum. It also includes a visit to the Roman Forum, where your guide will bring to life the stories of the Romans who inhabited the Eternal City with tales of betrayal, love and famous characters, including Caesar and Cleopatra.

Day 6: Full day tour of the catacombs and crypts

The Rome catacombs and crypts are a selection of eerie chapels and underground burial chambers that give a fascinating insight into what life was like so many years ago. This special tour, which allows you to visit rare historic sites to discover the history of Christian Rome, also features the Capuchin Crypt, which is decorated with the bones of thousands of monks who were executed by pagans for their religious beliefs. Other exciting places on this tour are the Cappuccini Crypt, the Domitilla Catacombs and the Church of San Clemente.

Day 7: Full day guided tour of Ostia

The harbor city of Ostia makes for a wonderful day trip and can easily be reached from Rome. The ancient city of Ostia Antica was actually once lost in time, but archaeological excavations have brought the city back to life and given visitors a glimpse back some 900 years! While in Ostia you can visit the city centre, with its famous temple and large thermal baths. There are also ancient sculptures and pretty mosaics to admire at Museo Ostiense.

Day 8: Half day tour of Villa Borghese

One of Rome’s richest and most interesting villas is Villa Borghese, where you can find the Borghese Gallery, which houses a vast collection of sculptures and paintings. The villa itself has some beautiful gardens, with fountains and monuments that complement the artistic nature of the villa as it stands today. This half day tour includes a guided walk through the gallery, as well as time in the Borghese Gardens, which can only be described as a little piece of Eden in the heart of Rome! We do recommend that you book this tour well in advance of your vacation, however, as the Borghese Gallery oftens books out during peak season.

Day 9: Half day tour of the Castelli Romani

This wonderful bus tour gives you the opportunity to leave the bustling city behind to immerse yourself in the natural and artistic beauty of the small medieval villages on the outskirts of Rome, known as the Castelli Romani. On this tour you will also visit Frascati, which is known for its wine production, and here you will have the opportunity to taste some local wine.

Day 10: Food and wine tasting

If day 9 of this tour got your taste buds tingling for local Roman wine then you will love day 10! On this final day you will have the chance to sample some exquisite local delicacies and rich Italian wines at a special wine and food tasting experience. You will also be joined by a guide, who will talk you through the distinctive flavours of Rome and Lazio. If you choose, you can also finish your day of gastronomy with a Gala Dinner at a supreme Roman restaurant to complete your vacation in style!
