Venice Film Festival 2014

The 71st Venice International Film Festival, organised by La Biennale di Venezia, is set to take place from 27th August to 6th September and this year is directed by Alberto Barbera.

The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms: as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue.

The opening film this year is Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which stars Michael Keaton, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts. The film is a black comedy about an actor who struggles with his ego as he takes on a Broadway role and is sure to grab the attention of critics and film enthusiasts alike.

Other films showcasing at the Festival include Manglehorn starring Al Pacino, 99 Homes starring Andrew Garfield and Good Kill starring Ethan Hawke and January Jones.
