Where to eat in Rome

Rome is famous worldwide for its great restaurants and as the home of some of Italy’s most popular dishes that have been exported worldwide, such as Spaghetti alla Carbonara, Rigatoni alla Amatriciana and Saltinbocca alla Romana.

Bellarome staff love fine food and the restaurant experience and our team of experts personally visit the restaurants that we recommend and sample the most popular dishes. From our investigations, we thought we would give you our personal suggestions of where to eat in Rome for the best authentic taste experience!

Here are our four favourite restaurants in Rome, with details of dishes we recommend and how to book a table.

Taverna Trilussa

Where: Via Politeama 26 (the Trastevere area)

Our opinion: One of the best restaurants in Rome, which serves traditional Roman cuisine. The owner, Maurizio Pirola, is very welcoming and is part of the reason why this place is a hot spot for locals and international celebrities, such as Roger Federer.

Recommended dish: it has to be the Ravioli Mimosa and a bottle of wine from the restaurant’s extensive collection of more than 1000 kind of wines!

How to book:
Option 1: Let us book you a table in this very busy, top-notch restaurant
Option 2: Pre-book the Trilussa Tasting Menu (TEN courses with wine) for £100 per person

Ristorante Tema

Where: Via Panisperna 20 (the Santa Maria Maggiore, Cavour area)

Our opinion: This family-owned restaurant is a favourite spot for Bellarome and we have built a strong relationship with Vincenzo, the owner, who consequently takes particular care of our customers.

Recommended dish: This restaurant is particularly good for fish and seafood dishes.

Option 2: Pre-book a three-course meal with wine for £40 per person, which includes a selection of the most popular dishes

Ristorante Lucifero

Where: Via dei Cappellari 28 (the Campo de’ Fiori area)

Our opinion: This is a small trattoria run by an engineer-turned-restaurateur, who serves hearty fare with a particular leaning toward fondue.
