Pescara Night of Ilex package

Enjoy an Evening of Medieval Re-enactment in Pescara

If medieval re-enactment sparks your interest then the Night of Ilex in Elice, close to Pescara, is an unmissable event. Taking place in mid-August, the small city of Elice comes alive with a spectacular and lively festival with over 400 participants in period dress. The city streets are transformed to recreate scenes of medieval Abruzzo, including merchants, begging leppers (complete with wounds and sores) and even wandering "thieves".

As a part of the festival you can find candle-makers, wax-makers, milkmaids, millers, blacksmiths, a medieval orchard with leather tanners, fortune-tellers, alchemists workshops, a revived antique convent replete with library, scriptorium and live Gregorian chanting. There is also a mosaic-maker and sculptor showing off their skills and a surgeon working in the open air to heal the battle-wounded, as well as musicians, artists and street acts.

On this custom-made Pescara package, you will be provided with everything you need to enjoy the festival, including tickets for the shuttle bus and costumes. You can even play a part in the festival as a plague-ridden victim, peasant, dame, doctor or monarch!
