Ischia

Ischia is an island nestled in the Tyrrhenian Sea and is formed from volcanic rocks. It is the largest island in the Gulf of Naples and is mostly mountainous, affording splendid natural scenery for its visitors.

The highest peak on the island is Monte Epomeo, which is some 788 metres high and surrounded by several volcanic vents, and the main settlement is Ischia Porto. However, there are many other quaint, smaller settlements, including Barano d'Ischia, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Serrara Fontana and Casamicciola Terme.

The island is a popular location thanks to its volcanic-heated thermal spas and ancient ruins, such as Castello Aragonese, which is a medieval castle owned by the Ferrandino Family, who still live on Ischia. Ischia also boasts some beautiful beaches, including Maronti Beach and Citara Beach.
