A full guided tour of the breath-taking ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii

The city of Pompeii is close to the Bay of Naples and is known as "the lost city" as, following a catastrophic volcanic eruption in 79 AD, Pompeii was all but destroyed and its 2000 inhabitants killed and buried beneath a thick layer of ash. The city was lost for 1,500 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1599, when researchers found that the volcanic ash and pumice had preserved the city from the time of the eruption. Today, the site is considered to be one of the few sites where an ancient city has been preserved in detail - everything from jars and tables to paintings and people were frozen in time, yielding an unprecedented opportunity to see how the people lived 2000 years ago.

With this tour, our guide will help you to discover this site and some of the aspects of everyday life in this ancient city. You'll be astonished by the number of villas, shops and public buildings that archaeologists brought back to life. Also, you will stop in a local factory where craftsmen will demonstrate the production process of cameos and corals.
