A guided walking tour inside the Colosseum, Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill (skip-the-line entry)

The imposing Colosseum is an iconic symbol of Rome and its magnificence is quite staggering. Its construction was started in 72 AD under the Emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD under Emperor Titus, with further modifications being made during Domitian's reign (81-96). It is epic in size and was capable of seating 50,000 spectators for its gory gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles and dramas based on classical mythology.

Occupying a site just west of the Colosseum is the Roman Forum, which is a rectangular plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city. It was for centuries the centre of Roman public life and is a fascinating place to visit to capture an essence of the Roman Empire.

This tour also includes a visit to Palatine Hill, which stands 40 m above the Roman Forum. It is the centremost of the Seven Hills of Rome and is one of the most ancient parts of the city.
