This fun, family-friendly activity in Rome gives you the opportunity to find out what it took to be a Gladiator in ancient Rome, and includes a lesson with a professional instructor from the Historic Group of Rome, as well as entry to the Gladiator School of Rome Museum.

The instructors that run this fun activity all specialise in Roman re-enactment to give you an intriguing and authentic glimpse back to the traditions of the Roman Empire. As a part of the lesson, you will get to try on traditional clothing that the Gladiators would have worn, including a belt, tunic and leather gloves, and you will have your own rudis, which is a training sword used by Gladiators. You will then learn the skills used by ancient Gladiators during their battles at the Colosseum, including sword fighting. After learning the secrets of the Gladiators, you will even have the opportunity to take part in a fun Gladiator tournament!
