Florence is regarded the cradle of the Renaissance period, where you breathe in art along the Medieval streets, see craft workshops and Renaissance palaces. Here, the memories of the Medici family are linked with the splendour of artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli. This is a wonderful tour for couples and groups, and allows you to experience the charm of Florence, even if you have only a little time in Italy.

Tour Itinerary

Leaving Rome in a northerly direction and crossing the green valley of the Tiber, this tour starts with a drive passed the slopes of the Apennines, which are covered with olive groves and vineyards, creating particularly memorable scenes for you to enjoy. You will also pass through the famous valley of Chianti before arriving in Florence, which is built on the banks of the River Arno.

The city tour will start with a visit to the Academy Museum, where you will see the magnificent statue of David by Michelangelo. Onward, you will continue on foot with your local guide to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its beautiful dome by Brunelleschi. Other treasures you will see include the Baptistry, Giotto's Bell Tower and the Piazza della Signoria, known as the ‘heart' of Florence.

There will then be a break for lunch, which is included as a part of the tour, featuring typical Florentine dishes. The walking tour then continues in the afternoon with Piazza Santa Croce, where the church of the same name is situated and where great artists like Michelangelo are buried. You will have the opportunity to visit a leather shop here in order to admire one of the typical crafts of the city, and there will also be free time to see the work of local goldsmiths and other traditional craftsmen.

Departure from Florence will be at approximately 5pm for the return journey to Rome.
