The Zoological Gardens of Rome, known as Bioparco SpA (or Giardino Zoologico di Roma in Italian), span 42 acres and are home to thousands of animals and hundreds of species. Since its conception in 1911, the Zoo, which is located close to Villa Borghese, has established itself as a scientific and educational institution with the goal of furthering education about animals and their conservation, as well as important research to ensure their survival in the wild. It's also a great place for families to visit, as well as anyone with an interest in animal conservation.

One of the main draws of Rome's Zoological Gardens is that the animals can be enjoyed without small cages and, instead, you can see big cats, reptiles, elephants, chimps and many other animal species rollicking in large, spacious enclosures that have been optimised for their needs.

A visit to Rome's Zoological Gardens makes a great educational trip or family day out!
