The Temple of Jupiter Anxur is one of the main attractions in Terracina. It is an archaeological site where there once stood an impressive temple that was reportedly dedicated to the god Jupiter. Over the years, the walls of the temple have crumbled but some of it remains intact, giving visitors a fascinating insight into the past, as well as stunning views of the sea.

During your visit, the guide will describe the history of the temple and its relevance to Terracina. In addition, you will have time to explore the Regional Natural Park of the Ausonian Mountains, which boasts quite an extraordinary abundance of Mediterranean flora and fauna, as well as birds, wolves, badgers, weasels, martens and porcupines. Your guide will tell you all about this great wealth of nature and how it relates to the myths and legends of ancient Rome.

2. HISTORY, ARCHAEOLOGY AND NATURE: SEEING THE ESSENTIALS (90 minutes)
This tour is for those who are a little short of time. It focuses on the historical and archaeological area of the great temple. As a part of the visit, you will see the massive basement, the cellar that once contained the temple's statue and the remains of the altar. You will also have some time to see the Regional Natural Park of the Ausonian Mountains, where there is abundant natural life.

3. HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY: THE COMPLETE VISIT (120 minutes)
This tour focusses on the entire archaeological area, including both the Roman and the mediaeval remains, with detailed description of the temple's history over the centuries and its importance to Terracina. You will have the opportunity to learn more about its construction and how everyday life was lived in Roman times, both inside and outside the temple precincts.

4. HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY: SEEING THE ESSENTIALS (60 minutes)
Just want to see the essentials? No problem - this tour is the one for you! This visit focuses on the historical and archaeological area of the great temple and includes the massive basement, the cellar and the remains of the altar. Your guide will describe the discoveries that have been made by archaeologists, who have deduced how the temple might have looked more than two thousand years ago.
