A day trip with train transfers from Milan to Pavia

Pavia is an Italian town close to the Ticino River and is 35 km south of Milan. It was founded by the Romans, who orginally called it Ticinum and it is well regarded in Lombardy thanks to its wealth of cultural attractions, including castles, the Certosa and its museum, and St Augustine. There is also a Romanesque church in the heart of the "big square", which underwent a complex process of renovation and is now a multi-purpose hall for exhibitions, chamber concerts and conferences, and a particularly intriguing attraction to visit.
