San Marino restaurants

The cuisine in San Marino is similar to the Italian cuisine, as would be expected for a landlocked microstate. Influence is especially taken from the adjoining Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions. Dishes are quite hearty, with bean dishes and gnocchi being favourites on many restaurant menus.

As a popular holiday destination San Marino has many restaurants that you can chose for your dining experience on your holiday in San Marino. But you should be cautious to avoid the tourist traps that compromise quality and be sure you go to a restaurant that is going to give you the real Italian cuisine experience. San Marino has many popular restaurants, so reservations are a must. The specialities of the resort include fagioli con le cotiche, which is a bean and bacon soup served at Christmas, noodles with chickpeas in garlic and rosemary and nidi di rondine, which is a baked pasta dish with smoked ham, beef and cheese in a tomato sauce. Those with a sweet tooth might want to try Torta Tre Monti, which translates as the Cake of the Three Towers and reflects the three towers of San Marino. It is a layered wafer cake covered in chocolate. There are other cakes to try that were inspired by the scenery around San Marino, including Torta Titano, with biscuit, hazelnuts, chocolate, cream and coffee, a traditional Christmas cake made with honey, nuts and dried fruit, and Verretta, which is a dessert made of hazelnuts, praline and chocolate wafers.
