Mugello

The Mugello valley was first settled on by a Ligurian tribe known as the Magelli. This is where the name Mugello derives from. Then the region was occupied by the Etruscans who have left many archaeological traces and who built the first road network of the Mugello. The subsequent Ancient Roman conquest and colonisation of the Mugello region dates back to the 4th century BCE. In the Middle Ages the Mugello was home to numerous castles. Mugello today is more famous for the annual Italian MotoGP race which takes place every spring, attracting many visitors to the area. Mugello Circuit is a race track is 5.245km and has 15 turns and a long straight with capacity of 50,000.
