Assisi educational trips

Let One of Our Experts Create the Perfect Educational Trip for Your Students

Assisi is an ancient town in the region of Umbria and, thanks to its many narrow and steep lanes, it is quaintly picturesque. It is considered to be the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, making it an excellent destination for students studying religion or religious history. However, thanks to its intriguing churches, which are built in varying styles, it is also a good choice for students of architecture.

About Assisi

Being the birthplace of St Francis of Assisi, the town is filled with many churches, monasteries and shrines, including the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi and the Franciscan monastery.

In 1997 the town suffered two devastating earthquakes and, since then, Assisi has been carefully rebuilt and restored. In 2000, UNESCO collectively designated the Franciscan structures of Assisi as a World Heritage Site, making it perfect for an educational trip to Italy, especially for students of religion and religious history.

As well as the many churches, Assisi also has two medieval castles, a Roman amphitheater, an abbey and several beautiful squares, and with the varying styles of the town churches, we highly recommend it as a destination for students or architecture. Assisi also has a rich tradition of art and is home to a number of well-known artistic works, such as Lorenzetti's Madonna dei Tramonti.
